I started reading Kiplinger materials in college. My dad used to mail me his newsletters. I still receive Kiplinger emails and often find them helpful. Most recently, an article by Paige Cerulli caught my attention. She called it 7 Ways to Protect Yourself From Online Scams Before They Cost You Money. Here are my top three from her list:

  1. “Stop clicking links in unexpected messages.”
Scam phishing is always in season for crooks.
  1. “Use stronger passwords and multi-factor authentication.”
I know, I hate them too. It’s a pain. But that is the price we pay to do business in today’s world.
  1. “Turn on alerts for your financial accounts.”
Feeling lonely? Do number three and you’ll receive texts all the time. It is a good way to get a second pair of legitimate eyes to watch over your stuff.

These tips can help us protect ourselves from scammers and hackers that lurk around us. Consider them.
